M and I went mushroom picking today with a couple of colleagues and
one of their daughters.
We quickly learnt to identify the brown chanterelles and, if we could
find them, the little yellow chanterelles, That was enough for us for
one day, though the experts found a few other delicacies.
We then built a fire and Michael proved himself very skilled at
turning a few scraps of paper and damp wood into a serious incendiary
incident. We then cooked sausages and mushrooms which we ate with
lefse. Then we baked a few bananas for pudding. What a great day and
we hardly noticed the rain!
What you can see here are the smaller chanterelles we picked which are
laid out for drying. The bigger ones will go into a chicken risotto
tomorrow - except for the ones we had with the steak tonight, of
course.
