Windsufing Festival

A lovely day at Hayling Island for a windsurfing festival. We got there an hour or so before lunch only having to stop the once for a mildish sickness incident, though it did require a wardrobe change. We do seem to be tackling these a little better these days. Anyway not long after arriving at the festival so did some friends.

The children had a good play whilst we got some tea in us before wandering to watch the racing. The wind was not that strong for most of the day but it did pick up for what seemed like a big race which seemed to involve every surfer there, hundreds we reckon.

The fun bit was the finish where competitors have to jump off their boards, leave them or lob them on the beach and run to a finish on the stoney beach. It was great to get in amoungst all the excitment taking pictures whilst trying not to get hit by a stray board, sail or competitor. For some reason some of them were dressed in fancy dress, the teenage mutant ninja turtle was Toddlers favorite.

We had a good look round and Toddler and her friend got some stickers and some friendship braclets from some big girls which was exciting. After a bit more watching and playing we headed for home all a bit tired and windsweept. Thankfully for us and the empty car wardrobe this journey was sickness free.
