Doing it in stile

This marks the beginning of a fantastic week's cycling in the Netherlands. Not to be unpatriotic but if you compare this scene with the smooth cycling and transport network of the Dutch, there is a clear winner.

This was along a river path just outside Stowmarket, where we witnessed a drunken brawl, police riot van and some dubious parenting in the space of about 5 minutes. Later we had to contend with a plethora of slugs, numerous stiles, offensive graffiti and a whisky-toting, Spaniel-owning posh git barking (the man, not the Spaniels) at us for cycling along a footpath.

We were only struggling down here because there was a rail replacement service between Stowmarket and Ipswich. See earlier comment re transport networks.

At least Hinners can smile through the despair.
