Carpe Diem

This is a "fuseruole" I bought in Italy. Fuseruoles are ceramic (majolica) hand-painted balls which were once used as weights for looms, and back in the Renaissance, as love tokens. Now they are churned out for the tourist trade. They all have inscriptions, usually in Latin. Mine says, appropriately enough, "Carpe Diem".
