Pole Position

It's been absolutely gorgeous here today and I've been lucky enough to spend most of the day out in the sun in the beautiful Cheshire countryside near Delamere Forest watching my friend Mel drive very fast round the Oulton Park motor racing track.

I have no interest in cars myself, let alone in motor sports, but I have to say it was a lot of fun and Mel was brilliant!

She's a bit of a petrol head and her parents bought her this racing experience as a present so a group of 5 of us (her parents included) went along to cheer her on.

After some initial instruction she drove 10 laps in a BMW M3 before further training and then yet more laps in a Formula 1 style single seater racing car. By the time she finished she was a on a massive adrenalin high as might be imagined!

Her instructor gave her a mark of 86% for her driving and here she is celebrating her triumph with the traditional bottle of champagne!
