That Will Do!

Queen Elizabeth

While Mr Flum was busy helping B with some clever stuff involving brake fluid Miss Flum and I took ourselves off to South Queensferry to see this great and mighty wonder, the Cunard cruise ship Queen Elizabeth. Being too large for the cruise terminal at Leith she was moored in mid-Forth, just downstream of the bridge.

The Queen Elizabeth was launched in Southampton in October 2010. With a tonnage of 90,900, she carries 2068 passengers and 996 crew. There are 12 decks and of the 1,046 rooms, 71percent have balconies. There are four grand suites and two master suites, as well as 25 penthouses.

It appeared that the St Colme ferry was amongst the small boats used to transfer passengers from shore to ship (see in large the gangway where they board, this will give a sense of scale) We expected to watch her sail at 6pm and waited until 20 past but, when it appeared they were still waiting for passengers to board we decided we'd seen enough and left. We heard later that she sailed shortly after.

Would we like to take a cruise on her? Probably not.
