Botanical garden, Uppsala
I passed the botanical garden on my way to a meeting today - the pic shows the "formal" part of it.
This is not the garden where Linnaeus worked - that one (now called Linnaeus garden) is situated on the other side of Fyris River and dates from 1655. This "modern" garden was donated to Uppsala University by Gustav III in 1787 and is placed in front of the castle.
The building in the background is called Linnaeanum and was finished in 1807, in time to celebrate Linnaeus 100th birthday. Last year we celebrated his 300th.
