Wanlockhead Cemetery

Wanlockhead is the highest village in Scotland. In the 18th and 19th centuries it was a thriving community, based on employment from the local lead mines. Today, its mostly second homes. The average lifespan of a lead miner was probably less than 40 years. And this mine had a good record as far as accidents were concerned. The cemetery brings this home in a pretty hard hitting fashion.
