Tree Damage from Hurricane Irene
We are still cleaning up from Hurricane Irene.
This is our Tulip Magnolia tree. It was beautiful and vibrant before the storm.
In this photo you can see the almost black green leaf color which is damage from the wind and the salt water that poured down in our area. The black edges are the wind burn. The whitish is the salt damage.
You can also see the hurried, and completely out of season, new growth that is sprouting as the tree is desperately struggling to regain its food supply which of course is through its leaves and now ineffective.
From across the yard the tree looks 'okay' but up close it is obvious that she is not doing all the well.
Sorry for the downer post ~ but i find this kind of thing absolutely interesting. Love Science, Nature, and Life.
