It's a Sign!

You may or may not know that the Rugby World Cup begins this Friday and is being hosted by New Zealand.

Actually, you can only be ignorant of this fact if you live outside New Zealand. The press here have been going on about the World Cup for what seems like the last couple of decades.

In the latest attempt to give the local team - the All Blacks - a bit of a boost a sign has been erected overlooking Miramar Wharf, close to the airport. The sign was installed last night and is visible from my home in Kilbirnie so I thought I'd stretch my camera's zoom facility to the max and grab a shot.

This spot on the hill had, earlier this year, been earmarked for a tacky 'Wellywood' sign - Wellington, Hollywood, geddit? - but widespread local protest soon put the tin hat on the idea.
