Its getting near

The time for the hatching of the ugly ducklings is almost upon us, and the daddy Swan is getting very nervous and protective.
I think I got a little too close for comfort.

The site security guard (who doubles up as the site naturalist) was telling me that they have lost quite a few eggs to the foxes, and that he would be surprised if a no more than a couple were eventually hatched. That remains to be seen, but I'm looking forward to seeing at least one. It would be a shame if none appeared. as I would have to go to the other duckpond to find some - which at 300 yards is far too far away.
