Monday: The Things That You Find
K. and I are like whirlwinds around the house today. It has suddenly hit us that we have just 7 months before we move to Croatia and we have loads to sort out in that time, ranging from sorting out all our possessions, getting the house ready to rent out, catching up with everyone we need to spend time with etc. So we have drawn up long lists, broken down by month, of all the things that need to be done.
So, the sorting out has begun in earnest and it is amazing what you find. I found these tiny papercuts in the desk drawer. They are so small and delicate, about 1 1/2 inch by 3 inches - the level of detail is incredible in them. I remember how we obtained them - we were in Suzhou, near Shanghai, commonly called the Venice of China because of its fabulous waterway system, and were watching a man in a temple calmly cutting these into shape. At the end, he gave them to us, and wouldn't accept any money.
