Fighting back
Theres only one good thing about Penrith, its proximity to the Lake District, and the views of the Lake District fells.
Two things then, proximity, views and the ability to park right in the middle of the town and have a wander around the locale. Ok ok, three things.
From the A6 North approach I noted Carrock fell already encapsulated in a cloak of clag and rain. Blencathra was next on the list to be stolen from view but fought back bravely with some delightful sunny breaks across its various flanks. And then, at once, she was gone.
