Eryngium 'Sapphire Blue'

Blooming now in the high elevation garden at 8,000 feet (roughly 2,500m). The nights over the weekend were around 30-32F (0 to -1C). The 2011 growing period is about over. I can never count on a frost free period, but most years there is little to no frost from late June to the 3rd week of August. Denver is Frost free from Mid May to early Oct most years a big contrast 3,000 feet (900 meters) makes.

This year we gained a week or so, maybe mother nature felt she owed the plants somthing since the snow didn't melt off until the last week of May and the last patch of snow left the garden sometime in the first week of June. The summer is short and sweet at high elevations.. keeps me interested I guess.
