Billy
This morning's lesson in my class at church started with the kids learning the new virtue of the month: "Knowledge". The kids in the class were a bit antsy today and had a difficult time concentrating on memorizing the verse that went with it...so I finally went on to a craft project of puppets and all was well after that.
Then it was off to a birthday party for Landon's friend, Connor. It was at a local martial arts facility and Landon was excited about going. We showed up and the poor birthday boy was crying because no one showed up to open the place and host the party! His mom taped a note on the door in case more guests showed up about where we were re-locating the party and we all headed over to a park down the street from their house. The birthday boy cheered up and the kids played flag football and soccer as an impromptu replacement for karate. It all worked out ok in the end (but you'd better bet come business hours I'd be calling that karate place and be all OVER them for what they did).
After the party we headed out-of-town to have a Labor Day BBQ with my family at my brother's house. I got there a little early per the request of my sister-in-law to take pictures of my nephew before people arrived. This blip photo is of my nephew Billy (age 13). There's a story that goes along with this picture taking 'session'. I have always thought llamas were cute animals until I recently saw video footage of a llama beating up a man pretty badly. I know, it sounds so silly, but this llama got on his hind legs and pounded on this poor guy. So when it came time to take a few pics of Billy, low and behold a llama starts following me everywhere. Billy got a laugh out of me being scared of this llama and that's when I realized what lengths I'll go to to get a good picture. I had invaded the space of a llama to get a pic of Billy leaning against a red barn wall.
The cousins tonight had fun playing and the adults had fun eating and chatting. It's a rare occasion where we can all find the time to get together so it was a nice day AND we got to see our niece on her short visit from college as well.
