Deep fried
Cycled from Dordrecht to Nijmegen, about 100km. Weather a bit better today, only rained some of the time. Lots of culinary adventures today, including these beautiful croquettes. Wikipedia says :
A croquette is a small fried food roll containing usually as main ingredients mashed potatoes, and/or minced meat (veal, beef, chicken, or turkey), shellfish, fish, vegetables, and soaked white bread, egg, onion, spices and herbs, wine, milk, beer or any of the combination thereof, sometimes with a filling, often encased in breadcrumbs.[1] The croquette is usually shaped into a cylinder or disk, and then deep-fried.
Wikipedia doesn't seem sure what is in them. Neither was I. Good chips though. Other food was a bit healthier: roadside apples, pears and plums from a roadside stall and chilled strawberries from a vending machine on the side of a road in a tiny village. And stroop waffels. Lots of them.
