Arthur Wellesley

The Duke of Wellington. It's an 'orrible wet day here. So much so a very knocked together blip from Reception. It was impossible to eradicate reflections. The hotel is basically a very gracious Georgian mansion house.

Local legend says that there was a liaison between Henrietta Le Marchant - daughter of the house - and the Duke of Wellington, and the Duke arranged for part of the house to be rebuilt. Henrietta was hurriedly married to a Captain de Courcey -some say to rescue her reputation from the Duke, others suggest she may have had a reason for haste.

If I meet the shade of Arthur, Duke of W, in the corridor I will ask for a blip in person.
