The one on the right is a regular slice of wholemeal bread ready to pop in the toaster and spread with the delicious homemade rhubarb and ginger jam.
The one on the left is more than that, it is a bun. Yes a bun. Not a loaf, but a bun. If you come from, or have visited the North East of England, recognise it as a stottie. It is really not as heavy as it appears.
It is traditionally eaten cut into sections, like a cake and covered in hot beef and gravy.
