Miles in Mine Woods

Early morning walk in Mine Woods with Miles my spaniel.

Mine woods is on a steep hill behind Bridge of Allan leading to the old reservoir now used by the local fishing club.

It is also the site of former mine workings started in 1550 for copper and silver.

The area is popular with dog walkers, mountain bikers and walkers.

Wildlife is plentiful and include squirrels, rabbits and deer. Once I saw a red squirrel. Birds include jays, blackbirds, woodpeckers, wrens, thrushes, tree creepers , as well as owls and buzzards.
