The Two Who Were Here
One of the assignments in my photo classes is to create a portrait of a person without the person being in the photograph. Can you show the essence of a person without their presence? It's also a philosophical exercise in making the attempt to find out if our presence does indeed leave a mark, if what we do matters. Can our actions leave an identifiable trace that is able to be linked to a specific individual or group after they've gone? Identifiable to whom? Close friends and relatives only or can these traces be identified by someone who isn't very familiar with that person? It's an interesting question.
