My BIG 1st Grader

Whoo hoo! Today Carter started the 1st grade. Why does the 1st grade sound so much older than being a wee kindergarten? He couldn't have been more relaxed about starting. He had no reservations about going what so ever. He is fortunate this year to be in a class with several of his friends and classmates from last year. He has a wonderful teacher who is a reading specialist and I know will really push him to continue to excel and challenge himself.

The picture isn't the best as I was a little preoccupied getting Jack off to school. As you know from yesterdays blip, poor jack came down with the flu during his first day back to school. He spent the evening in bed alternating throwing up and sleeping. Finally around 10pm we came to the end of him throwing up and he slept through the night. When we woke up at 5am he was talking about going to school today which excited me. Unfortunatley as it grew closer to get ready he suddenly developed a bad headache and wanted to stay home. I know he had been sick yesterday but I also know when my son is putting on a act, thats what he was doing. I encouraged him to go today ( i know many moms are thinking nooooooo he was just sick and is going to get others sick now too) but I really think he was better. Funny thing is I received two texts from other moms in his class last night and their sons were throwing up also. Both those boys were back in class today too. I wonder what in the world hit these boys and how many others are going to get it?

Anyway, finally got Jack to school and settled in his class. I hope things go better for him today. I felt so sad for him yesterday. Carter on the other hand went straight to his class and couldn't care less that I was leaving. They are such different boys.

So today, I am a stay at home mom with no kids staying at home? What an odd concept. I've vowed NOT to waste my entire day on the computer so off I go to clean my house.
