The Gazweasel Times

A well earned rest...in both cases

No jobs around the house today because I went to work. At lunchtime I popped over to the V&A for a visit to my favourite gallery.

This little mourning figure (it's actually about 2' high) sits at the feet of an effigy of a Spanish knight, Don Garcia. It was made around 1499-1505 for his memorial in Toledo, Spain. Next to his effigy lies his wife who, likewise, has a little mourning figure at her feet.

They are at the back of the gallery and can stand quite some examination.
