Getting back to Guernsey - trials and tribulations

My wife and son went to London on Thursday morning for an appointment, due back in the evening.
The problem with Guernsey is it's an island surrounded by water, and the wet stuff often means fog.
So Thursday night was spent in a hotel in Gatwick via Tescos for toothpaste, deodrant, knickers and socks - because you do't normally back those for a day-trip.
Today was back to London and the museums, killing time while awaiting again delayed flights.
The plane is due back tonight at 11:30pm - provided it's turned round quickly enough at Gatwick.
If it's late it won't be coming as Guernsey airport closes at the latest at midnight.
So tomorrow might be another airport blip!
