A new face in Fitzroy

Spotted this paste-up wandering around the back streets of Fitzroy on a damp winter afternoon. Just love it! Such a striking piece. Never seen this artist before, that I'm aware of anyway, but I hope more of their stuff pops up.

Another street artist asked on Facebook if the person responsible was 'placementally challenged', referring to the graffiti it was pasted over. I'm not part of the scene, just an observer, but I do tend to think if you're going to put your art on public walls it's a bit rich to get bent out of shape if someone then goes over your stuff. Live by the sword... Putting aside questions of respect though, I think the grey backdrop is perfect as it really let the colours shine.

Unfortunately this piece has since been tagged over. Karma perhaps. Just pleased I saw it while it was still fresh.
