Saturday: The English National Opera
I took a walk up to the English National Opera last night, just after midnight.
This is on St Martin's Lane, which is near to both Soho and Covent Garden. I am telling you this because it is much closer to going-out-land than where I normally take photos which might explain why I had my first little incident last night. Well, incident is perhaps putting it too strongly - more like a minor interlude.
As I was taking this, a group of 6 youngsters came walking down the road, slightly the worse for wear. Judging by the aroma, substances other than alcohol had also been enjoyed. Anyway, they kept jumping up and down in the front of the camera, demanding that I take their photos. So I ended up taking lots of pictures, not because I particularly wanted to but because I felt it was the easiest thing to do. They were all rubbish and blurry but I wasn't trying - besides they weren't what I wanted to blip. After about 20 photos they got bored and moved on.
As for opera, I like some, but am not a wholesale fan. I went to see 'Aida' many years ago and remember thinking how we do get a bit conned in opera as in that particular instance the beautiful princess looked more like Diego Maradonna with a duvet strapped to her back.........
