Wellywood Protest Sign

As I mentioned in an earlier blip Wellington narrowly escaped the indignity of having a large "Wellywood" sign being installed next to its airport, all the better for arriving tourists to see.

Local reaction to the proposed sign was mostly negative and included an hour long drive-by protest at the airport, which was the organisation behind the monstrosity.

My flatmate and I took part in the protest and managed to achieve 2 seconds of our 15 minutes of fame by appearing on a national current affairs programme. We were shown in my flatmate's car with this home made sign hanging out of a side window.

Suggestions for a new sign / art work have been requested recently and over 200 ideas have been submitted so far. Will keep you posted!
