A welcome surprise

With today seeing a marked improvement in the weather, I ventured out to the local nature reserve again, to try to see how well the 18-270 would handle a close-up. Boy was I shocked! Bearing in mind that this is not taken with a macro lens; that no extension tubes or close-up dioptres were used, I?m blown away by the quality of image that the lens produced. It?s not going to replace my macro lens, but for a (frankly, tiny) lens with such an insane range, it?s encouraging to know that it can give results like this straight out of the box, for those occasions when I can?t carry everything around with me.
