...I'm gonna sit right down and write.....
Grandma's birthday card!
This is not a shot by me, but by YH.
Charlotte is deciding on the message for Grandma's birthday card.
The Boss wasn't well last night....woke me up at 3.30......we got her sorted and went back to bed ...but I coulldn't get to sleep until 5.20....the
alarm went off at 6.30!
Big Junior angling match today, our club against another local club...7-a-side. Got to the ponds for 8.00. Shaun and I set up the venue and then conducted the draw at 9.00....all in at 10.00.....all out at 2.00.
My young Padawan, Aiden, was very nervous, fishing his first ever match......and he drew a terrible peg!
4 hours is a long time for a youngster to focus....especially when his Mum is watching.....but by listening....and doing what he was advised....and paying attention....and concentrating ....and not losing heart or getting bored in the first 3 hours when he didn't even get a bite....he eventually caught a decent roach....and then in the last 15 minutes he caught a crucian carp....and weighed in with 1lb 1oz and 8 drams.....and came 8th! Which helped us to a victory!
He also learned one of the sneaky tricks of fishing...one of the boys from the other team missed the weigh sling when he was transferring his catch from his net....the fish fell on the floor and got covered in mud, grass and twigs....Roy, straight away said..."Pick 'em up....and leave the shit on them....they'll weigh more!" Not very PC, our Roy!
Believe it or not I've seen grown men miss the sling purposely, especially in winter when weights are always low...just to gain an extra ounce....but you can never prove they've done it deliberately!
My match tomorrow...on one of our local lakes....I hope it's very windy in the morning.....as that will make it very difficult to handle a 13 metre pole....but I'm not fishing the pole....I'm fishing a 9 foot tip rod....that might just give me an edge....if I can draw a good peg.
Well done Aiden and well done Charlotte!
