Battlefield Rest
Passed Battlefield Rest today on the way home, and thought I would include some history of Glasgow's south side. Built in 1915, the Rest was a tram station, shelter with newsagent at one end. In 1981 it was designated a listed building, but in 1990 it was deemed unsafe and was scheduled to be demolished. However, a petition was raised locally which collected signatures of 1500 people, and the Rest was saved and restored. In 1994 it was sold to a private businessman and became a restaurant and bistro which is very popular locally. It is a local landmark and good to see that a good use was found for it.
