I of the Owl....

.... about 1968,
I wanted to make a Poem out of clay, and,
listening at that time, all the time,
to ' The Ballad of Frankie Lee and Judas Priest'
I started with the lines;
'....with four and twenty windows
and a woman's face in every one....'
but my construction had to have sixteen
(or twenty five, but that felt wrong).

In each of the windows
was a moveable figure
with a word on it.

Here are the words:

Owl twoo geth her
we sin ga him
Paw tree po hem
Sir ham hicks hong

(You have to say this out loud in a Nairnshire accent,
or even an Aberdeenshire one will work).

I was a lot younger then.

So that's okay....
