Morning Sun at Mungrisdale

On the way to the Lake District Mountain Trial - described as a severe test of fellrunners? mountaineering ability and stamina. Competitors are required to traverse difficult and often dangerous terrain, rapidly but safely. Navigational skills and route choice have a direct bearing on each competitor?s safety. Evolving from a race organised by the YHA in 1952, it is run on orienteering principles and is the longest established event of its kind in Great Britain.

Always this weekend in September and, in the past, has been blessed with wonderful weather, see for instance 2009 Trial. This morning looked promising but sadly this was pretty much the last we saw of the sun and I spent just over 7 hours racing in rain in the Northern Fells, north of Keswick.
