shoe shopping
at the innards of chatuchak, or jj, weekend market in bangkok. nothing like roaming up to mo chit station off bts skytrain for the biggest market in bangkok - definitely much better in january than in may, weahter-wise.
i've no idea the exact figures on the place, but i believe there's anywhere from 9000-15000 stalls and near 1/2 million people who visit each weekend. get under these tents with the amount of body heat combined with insulation provided by all of the goods, and you've got a very sticky situation.
it's definitely worth a go, especially if you are after some deals. lot's of thai hipsters shop here for clothing, but there's a broad range of goods here, and if you have the time and tolerance for the crowd, you can really come out with arms loaded.
so what did i walk away with? honestly, a few bossa nova cds. i'm not much of a shopper, but do like to look. and for some reason i can always find some of my favorite brazilian music in bangkok.
