Consumerist Freshers

My memory of Freshers' Week is of being startled by Chilean refugees, anti-nuclear activists, socialists & communists, rock climbers and folk singers.. .........................

Today, Bristo Sq had been taken over by Harvey Nicks and numbers of bright young things were spreading out to market their beauty shop!!!!!!! Oh, and posters: cute or rude, but no eye-catching politics or activism.

And this is the Central Area, surrounded by the departments of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, and Teviot Row Union.

It looks as though the last 20 years and more of policies equating education with the acquisition of bits of paper then a lifestyle have worked.
