Hanging about

Well this is the biggest moth I think I have ever see and I have no idea what it's called but I am sure one of you will be able to fill me in. He has been sitting on a wall for at least the last two days outside one of my calls. I hope he is ok.



EDIT Well I do believe that it is aPoplar Hawk Moth or at least it looks very similar to the one I found a picture of on Google. It does say you can see them from may until august though which may explain why he has not moved for two days. Poor little moth may he rest in piece.
