Looks innocent doesn't it, but this little shoot will cause Jibba much misery.
After having to rebuild a previous owners extension due to defective foudations some years ago, we very unwisely planted a bamboo close to the house. Early last year a crack appeared in the new extension and we immediately blamed the bamboo, which had gone mental. We enlisted the help of our most muscly son and he spent a whole day digging the evil plant out as we looked on in horror at the the extent of the root system.
Every few weeks there still appears one of these little shoots and Jibba has to dig it out and lift patio slabs, for every one you can see there will be another 3 or 4 offshoots unseen. Let the fun begin!

Moral of the story - leave the bamboo for the panda
