Terminus post quem

The Latin phrase denoting the first date after which an archaeological layer can have been laid down ("The end-point after which"). In this case it was a floor in the church in Dundee, which I mentioned yesterday, the date in question being Monday, January 27th 1964 when the paper was published. As with all TPQs, the actual date of laying the floor could be much later if it was an old paper.

As you can possibly tell, it has been a busy day, hence this rather desperate blip...I have to get a large quantity of bone measured and identified before Thursday morning, when it will be re-interred...
