Ascension

Last year about this time I went to New York City to spend a little time there for the first time as an adult. My mother was born in the Bronx and my grandfather lived most of his later years in Manhattan, so I'd been there many times as a kid. I have been wanting to go to New York for some time, so I stayed with a friend and met up with a number of others I've known from my other online community, and I had a great time.

The impetus (excuse, actually) for me to make the trip was to go see a friend's photo exhibit in the Village. She is from Montréal but has had much better luck getting opportunities to show her work in New York than in Canada. While at the show's opening, I expressed interest in buying one of the photos and finally, after getting around to scraping up the money for it, I sent it to her a couple of weeks ago and... voilà!
