"Definitely my better side..."
I went out with B and J today on the pre-walk for "Oh Deer!" which is one of our autumn festival walks. The walk has been fully booked for about 3 weeks now and we have a waiting list. It's a lovely walk with views of the Whin Sill from North of Hadrian's Wall and then the wild beauty of Greenlee Lough.
We saw the red deer herd at Gallowshieldrigg Farm. Hopefully the stag will be rutting when we go during the festival. At Greenlee Lough we looked into the classroom where the talk about deer will be given and saw where we will have our venison sandwiches for lunch.
This is one of a group of tups we met on our way back to Steel Rigg. The boys always looks so lethargic at this time of year, but they need to build up their strength for activity in November.
(Plenty of places remain on most walks if you fancy a trip to this wonderful walking area, Haltwhistle Autumn Walking Festival
