The season has turned and at night we freeze
but this morning the sun offered one last tease
of a summer that never really arrived,
hidden behind a grey veil in the sky.

And this unexpected sunshine brought buskers out
onto the high streets of Nottingham town
where saxophones and guitars you might hear
or see a street artist sketching Leonardo and Vermeer.

There was a continental feel to this British high street
with music in the air and art at our feet,
but I wonder where these buskers were back in May?
Just like the summer they came too late...
