Hines: April 2005- September 15, 2011

'I think dogs are the most amazing creatures; they give unconditional love. For me they are the role model for being alive '
~Gilda Radner

This is the last day of Hines' life journey. He had been under the weather for the past two weeks, but he was still chasing the ball last night. Even though he refused to eat anything all day yesterday. This morning we found him laying on the floor laboring really hard. He did not race to the door for his morning business. He didn't even lift his head. We had to wait an excruciating amount of time for the animal clinic to open, then wait longer for the earliest appointment for the vet to see him. But he died on the way to the office.

We have no definitive answers as to why and we keep looking back to the past two weeks to unearth any clues. We are crushed. He was the best outfielder ever and Hannah, his partner through his entire life, was his short stop. He loved nothing more than catching that ball, passing it to Hannah, and immediately stand at attention for the next throw. He was the calm and reserved one, in contrast to Hannah's explosive demeanor. What a lover Hines was. A role model for all.

Rest in Peace Dear Friend.
