The Foss

When I first came to York the Foss was quite unpleasant to look at. Sludgy and little less than fragrant, it was a river to be passed over as much as possible.

I've noticed how much cleaner it seems to be over the last few years; and today as I strolled home from the centre of town it looked positively attractive in the evening light.

How lovely to see something grimy reclaimed.
