Birthday Bedtime Blip

Growing up with a September birthday on a Saskatchewan farm always meant that the birthday cake (usually homemade angel food)was squeezed into a busy harvest schedule. On a fine day Mom and three daughters would carry it out to the field with the rest of the supper for the men running combine and truck; my Dad and Barney, the hired hand. Everyone found a little extra time for dessert before the dishes, the food and the old quilt were packed back into the half ton and all of us went back to work.

Today was a similar kind of celebration, fitted into work, school, volunteer and travel schedules and pretty special because of it. More celebrating to follow on the weekend. Who can complain about that? Definitely not me!

I'm pretty sure I heard a mouse in the ceiling just now. We've caught three already this week. Dirty rotten little vermin...
