The First Generation

by Chong Fah Cheong

The C's have just left for the airport, to continue their journey to the UK; feels like I've gone deaf. We were back down the river today, looking at the Grand Prix circuit round the marina, the Merlion in front of the Fullarton and the sculptures around Boat Quay.

There's no great hidden message in this artwork, it captures the joy of the original Singaporeans and the joy children still have in the simple things (like jumping into the water). Admittedly, the British press would probably call it "irresponsible tomb-stoning in a congested waterway".
