Glas allt Sheil
Today we went for a walk around Loch Muick
Scenic picture here... the colours have been improved as the day was rather grey...
now the weather forecast said showers, to me that implies that there will be precipitation followed by a dry spell, followed by another couple of short bursts of rain.... What it actually means is that it will wait until you?re about half way around the walk and the p*** down torrentially for the next 6 hours...whilst you walk the remaining 5 miles in more water than you thought was possible... and that seeps through every seam and corner of your allegedly waterproof clothing...
So now I?ve set the scene I can tell you about the miserable house or Glas allt Sheil. This was built for Queen Victoria after Albert had died, as a place to find solace and solitude... or, more likely to wallow in her own misery... in today?s world it would be the equivalent of hiding under a duvet, drinking nasty white wine and watching chick flicks, whilst crying until you have snot bubbles the size of your own head...
Perhaps in a rare moment of sunshine it would be a lovely spot, but I found it a little gloomy.
Consolation from today was the 8 mile walk did work of breakfast and made room for a large slab of cake, and the scenery was majestic in its scale : )
