Djerba: Sunday
This was our first full day in Djerba, we spent the day next to the main pool for the majority of the time. Sunbathing was on the agenda to avoid that 'just arrived' pasty look haha!
We walked along the beachfront and pier which our hotel backed onto. The scenery was beautiful and the hotel was more than satisfactory, it was looking like this was going to be a good week.
There were many stray cats around but the staff at the hotel were welcoming to them and at times they would even wander into the restaraunt area to see what they could get their paws on.
I was starting to notice that a lot of the staff and locals' spoken English wasn't great, but considering the English had only been 'invading' (as some of the locals so kindly put it) Djerba since May, their grasp of the English language was impressive.
We dined in the hotel's retaraunt that evening. The food was good and plentiful. Especially puddings!
Evening entertainment at our hotel was.... well, different, but the staff team behind it were hard-working and really made the effort.
We had a reasonably early night and enjoyed the comfort of out air conditioned 'menzel' which was like a mini house. Bathroom and cupboards on the ground floor, a twin room with a mini balcony on the first and a roof terrace/balcony on the 2nd floor. Decor was slightly dated but we were happy with our new home for the week.
