Clematis

Today i thought i would do something a little bit different, for those who know their plants maybe saying that doesnt look like any clematis ive seen.

This is a little bit of what i do for my job, i work with Plants and have prepared hundreds of sections of plants for student practicals.

This picture is a cross section on a plant stem, this shows the vessels and stucture of the inside of the plant.

The process from taking a piece of plant tissue and turning it into a slide takes days, from removing all the water, processing it though a series of alcohol concentations (no G&T 's) then into wax, embedding this into a block, cutting it into very fine sections, removing the wax and then staining the section to show the parts of the plant. i could go into more detail but it would be really boring.

This photo was taken on a microscope.

off to have my tea now

Have a good evening :)
