ridiculous village fete did nothing to persuade my scottish companions that i am not an english country gal at heart. spent a fortune on the tombola but resisted the worst of the pester power. also enjoyed england's only solo morris dance troupe - billy no mates. he looked like the village drunk but actually knew how to dance, even if he did have no jingly bells.

was a good ruse to escape the rather stressed pre-birthday party build-up. but once the thing had started good fun was had by all. and the glaswegian contingent behaved spectacularly well.
