Art Deco loveliness
Place des Vosges first thing today, one of the most beautiful squares in Paris where Victor Hugo used to live. Still very hot so we sat for a bit then went to find the Musee de Carnavalet (museum of the city) but it was closed.
Walked over to the Pompidou Centre - my favourite museum in Paris (mainly for it's Leger works but also for the building itself.
Found a lovely cafe in the square behind the museum, had some lunch then more walking Forum Des Halles then back to the Louvre.
The area around the Pyramids was packed with people (and ducks!) enjoying the fountains.
Another rest then on to the Musee D'Orsay, we were a bit museumed out by that point so we didn't stay long. Headed over for a walk through the Tuilleries then back to get ready for dinner.
The restaurant we had dinner Chez Flottes in was just the most amazing beautiful place, this is one of the original windows and the dining room was full of original art deco features, just fantastic.
Even more fantastic was the food. We were given complimentary Kir Royales and appetisers. For main course we both had roast chicken with Aligot, an amazing mashed potato with cheese and garlic. For dessert I had Creme Brulee with bourbon and sis had tarte tatin which came with another complimentary glass of cider made from the same apples as the tarte.
The service was fantastic and the whole experience was just amazing, a perfect last meal in Paris.
