These days Feltham is best known for its Young Offenders' Institution, but market gardening was once the area's main business, & the "Feltham First" variety of pea was first grown here.
It was also to Feltham that the 17 year old Farrokh Bulsara came when his family had to flee the Zanzibar Revolution in 1964.
It must have been a bit of a disappointment, after his early childhood in Zanzibar & India, but he enrolled to study art at Isleworth college, before changing his name to Freddie Mercury & joining a rock band.
I wonder if they ever got anywhere...
