York University Rover Team (YURT)

Today is YorkFest's village and barbeque day. There are events all week but today is the main event. The rain held off until late afternoon. Over 100 tables representing University services, clubs, and outside service providers. Students can sign up for things, enter contests, and get lots of freebies like pens, note pads, buttons, product samples (deodorant, Frank's Hot Sauce, cookies), frisbees, and so on. Fun times, crowded times.

Shown here is a product of one of York's most successful student groups: a Mars rover. The students enter a rover in the international University Rover Challenge held in Utah each year. The team has done extremely well the past several years and placing in the top three for two consecutive years (2nd this year, 1st last year). Here's another blip view from April.
